Corner Tang Cache !!! Several Years Ago.
A Heart Stopper For Me !!! A Few Years Ago.

I just came across these pictures and thought
I would share them with those who have not seen
them. I was starting a hole with my back hoe to pick dig.
You always try to look and listen when you are
running a hoe. I heard the bucket scrape a larger rock.
I stopped it and got my pick to see what it was. I scraped
a little and saw it was a Matate. To the left of it
where you see the screw driver pointing, there was
three of what I thought to be thin looking blades.
I pulled them out one at the time and saw they were
a little unusual shape. The Bottom one to my
amazement was a Corner Tang. As it turned out,
there was 2 Corner Tang Blanks and that is what
Dwain Rogers papered the Cache as. I think the Tangs
were inside the bowl and the pecan tree roots pulled
them to one side. There was also two Manos under
the Matate. I dug these in Burnet County in Central,
Texas about 100 yards from the Lampasas River.
As you can see, Corner Tangs are not very deep.
In this same spot I have found a good many Corner
Tangs and Mid Backs made on a flake.
There was a Buffalo Back Bone with them. Also in this
exact spot I have found occupation all the way
down to 12 foot.
Thanks For Looking
